    Asian Slaw Recipe

This coleslaw recipe is a crisp and refreshing side dish packed with an Asian flavor.

This crunchy salad is a fantastic way to get all of your colorful veggies packed into one delicious and super easy-to-eat side salad.

    Asian Slaw Ingredients

    Ingredients for asian coleslaw

For the crunch Asian slaw, start with crunchy veggies like:

    • red cabbage
    • napa cabbage or green cabbage
    • carrots
    • green onions
    • fresh cilantro

    Ginger Peanut Dressing Recipe:

    • peanut butter
    • rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar
    • soy sauce
    • toasted sesame seed oil
    • honey or maple syrup, you can also use a sugar-free liquid sweetener
    • fresh ginger
    • fresh garlic

    How To Make Asian Coleslaw

Step 1 — Slice all of the veggies and add them to a large bowl. A Mandoline slicer makes quick work of slicing up the cabbage. I like to use the medium comb fitting to create matchsticks from the carrots.

Step 2 — Mix up the Asain slaw dressing. Ad all of the ingredients to a medium bowl and whisk until the dressing is smooth.

    peanut butter
    rice wine vinegar
    soy sauce
    sesame oil
    garlic
    ginger
    brown sugar
    thin with a little water
    whisk until smooth

Toss the slaw with the dressing.

    Recipe variations

    Ramen coleslaw salad

A popular variation of this recipe includes the addition of dried ramen noodles. Add one to two bricks of the crunch noodles to the slaw right before dressing. The dried noodles add extra texture and a satisfying crunch to this side salad.

Other healthy veggies to add in:

Feel free to add any combination of veggies that you are into. Here are a few of my favorite extras.

    • edamame
    • snap peas
    • red bell pepper
    • crushed peanuts

Quick and simple sesame ginger dressing recipe.

Sometimes I make a super simple version of Asian slaw dressing. This version has no peanut butter, so if you need an Asian-style dressing without peanuts, this one is for you.

These dressing ingredients are also great for any lettuce salad that you want to add Asian flavor to — think Chinese Chicken Salad.

    • ¼ cup rice wine vinegar
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely grated
    • 1 clove of fresh garlic, finely grated
    • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
    • ¼ cup light olive oil
    • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

How long does Asain slaw last in the fridge?

Stored in an airtight container, this salad will keep in the fridge for up to a week. It does lose some of its crispness the longer it sits.
