Irish Brown Bread
The easy bread recipe is the perfect accompaniment for hearty soups.
combine dry ingredients
Flour, oats, baking soda, salt, and sugar, in a large mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
combine wet ingredients
Add the wet ingredients to the flour and mix using a large wooden spoon or spatula.
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough about 8 times. It will be a slightly sticky dough.
shape the dough
Cut a large X in the dough. Cut through the dough using a sharp knife or a pastry cutter, and cut a large deep cross over the top of the loaf.
Bake for 20 minutes at 425°F (220°C). When the dough is done, the loaves will have a hollow sound. Allow to cool.
