I’d bet we get asked this question multiple times a week. The answer…at Foodology Geek we love food. Specifically – healthy, nutritious, real, wholesome food; hand prepared to sustain both us and the ones we love. If we can accomplish one thing, it would be to help you gain confidence and inspiration in preparing tasty and nourishing home cooked meals for your family and friends.
But we get it – This is easier said than done. We’d also like to exercise every day, meditate, and floss. There simply isn’t enough time in the day.
Let us help you get creative – with both your food and your time. Learn to enjoy food prep as an act of living fully, and sharing love and gratitude with family and friends.

I’m Laura – I’m the first half of Foodology Geek.
I’d like to introduce myself and give you a glimpse into my life and how I got started on this blogging – food love journey.
I’m a certified science geek who loves to cook delicious food and take photos everywhere I go. In college I majored in Physiology and Neuroscience, and have a graduate degree in Forensics. For the past 16 years I have worked full-time as a Forensic Scientist. I spent many years woking as a DNA analyst in a Crime Lab before I took my current position as a Forensics Specialist for a local Police Department. I specialize in Cold Case Homicide Investigation and Digital Forensics. It’s kind of like CSI without the high heels. I’m a mom and a wife, and then after hours I am an amateur athlete and love to lift heavy things and then put them back down again. Currently I am studying to get my Level 2 Certification in Sports Nutrition.
In addition to all of this I started this blog to share my love of cooking healthy, real food. I want to show you how easy it can be to cook healthy meals at home and have real sustainable nutrition that won’t leave you tethered to the kitchen 7 nights a week. I want to change your mind about buying processed foods and inspire you to nourish your body with food that is super simple to prepare and super healthy for you and your family.
Balance can be hard when you work full time, have kids, need to work out, and get all that other domestic stuff done. My goal is to provide you with healthy easy recipes and meal planning resources that can help you spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying family and friends. As a busy working mom, I know how hard that can be. It’s daunting some days and Pizza Hut is on speed dial.
I want you to have a kick ass mindset and focus your energy on growing stronger, not smaller. I want you to love the body you’re in and nourish it like you give a f@#%. I want you to get a little bit better every day and be fierce in this life. You only have one chance to make it count, so let’s get to it!

And I’m Kit – I’m the other half of Foodology Geek.
How did I get involved in this? To be honest, I got really lucky and Laura invited me to join her! Laura and I met at the gym. We share a mutual love for fitness – and the nutrition required to fuel capability.
How do I fit in? First and foremost, I love all things food – nutrition science, the chemistry, the creative exercise of cooking and especially socializing around a meal with friends and family.
My love of food started at a young age. As a kid in middle school I used to seek out the most technically difficult recipes that I could find to challenge myself. Combining my sweet tooth, with my obsession for learning the science of cooking, my focus tended to be towards the precision of baking. I still remember one of the first pies I made. It was a layered chocolate concoction of flour-less cake, mousse and whipped cream. It took me an entire day to make it. I loved everything about the process, not to mention the end result. [The chocolate pie]
Why do I tend to baking over ‘savory’? I’ve often asked myself that very question. As a kid I had also studied classical music. The freedom of jazz made me itchy. Clearly, I’m more comfortable with structure. Maybe that is it. Thankfully Laura’s strength in savory flavors compliments mine in desserts. This makes us a good fit. Not to mention, both of us share a fascination with the science of cooking – while also enjoying the creative exercise of creating a delicious meal.
Like Laura, I also studied science in school. In my professional life I have worked in product development focusing on helping product designers create new products that are informed by the needs of the people who will use them.
I’m a wife, mother, amateur athlete, and business owner. I’m busy. I love the challenge of fueling my body (and those of my family and friends) with healthy, wholesome, delicious food – in the face of the chaos that makes life wonderful.
